The Japan Sport Council, together with the Aspire Academy (Qatar), Hong Kong Sport Institute (Hong Kong), and Singapore Sport Institute (Singapore) , established the Association of Sports Institute in Asia (ASIA) in 2015. The ASIA envisions an active community of all Asian countries, which creates opportunities to develop sport performance and a better society with respect and openness. It is a non-profit and non-government organization with the mission to connect Asian countries and regions on the foundation of high performance development to support the sporting ambitions of each member. To facilitate the collaborative networks and information sharing among the members (currently 16 institutions from 13 countries and regions), the ASIA holds annual congress.
The Japan Sport Council, the chair of this organization, will host the 5th ASIA Congress from 22nd to 26th February 2021. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be delivered virtually for the first time. The theme is “New-norm in high performance sport with COVID-19 and the future of sport in Asia,” covering the various topics including athlete pathway and network development, evidence-based athlete scientific support, safe sport, women and sport, evolution of technology, coaching with new-normal, organizational systems of centers, and prevention measures and research of COVID-19. This event will be a great opportunities for those who are interested in finding out what has been happening in the field of high performance sport in Asian regions. There will be more than 40 presenters from 16 institutions of 12 countries and regions to share the latest actions, challenges, and insights with the audience. It will be open for anyone who is interested in the action and the development of Asian sport centers and organizations.
In addition, along with the 5th ASIA Congress, the JSC will also organize virtual exhibition of the Japanese sport contents, called “Japan Market.” You can find the detailed information on what the Japanese local government, sporting organizations, and private sectors are able to offer to our international stakeholders and partners.
