Prince Chichibu Memorial Sport Museum and Library

The Prince Chichibu Memorial Sport Museum and Library is the only integrated sport museum and library in Japan. Due to the rebuilding of the National Stadium, the Museum and Library’s warehousing functions have been relocated in June 2014. The materials in the Museum’s collection are not available for viewing. However, adopted as a program subsidized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in FY2015, the Museum will collaborate with the community, collect information,and train professionals in cooperation with research institutions by: (1) organizing travel exhibitions (Wakayama and Miyagi Prefectures); (2) conducting studies on sport museums in and outside of Japan; and (3) archiving materials from the Tokyo Olympic Games (1964). The materials in the Library’s collection are available for browsing at the warehouse upon booking by fax or phone.
